Files & Folders

The Files page is where you manage your document collection. Upload documents, organize them into folders, and monitor processing status.

Getting started

Supported formats

Moongraph supports PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, text files, and HTML. See Supported Formats for details.

Document processing

After upload, documents go through a processing pipeline:

  1. Parsing — Text content is extracted (OCR for images)
  2. Chunking — Document is split into searchable segments
  3. Embedding — Vectors are generated for semantic search
  4. Storage — Data is saved to the database

Processing status is shown in the files table. Documents with Completed status are ready for search and graphs.

Smart Analysis

Enable Smart Analysis during upload for documents with tables, images, handwritten notes, or complex layouts. This uses advanced visual processing for higher accuracy.

Folders

Folders help you organize documents and simplify workflows:

  • Organization — Group related documents
  • Graph creation — Select a folder to include all its documents in a graph
  • Sharing — Share a folder to give team members access to its contents

Documents can belong to multiple folders. Create folders from the Files page or from the Manage Folders dialog.

Files table

The table shows all your documents with:

  • Status — Processing progress and completion
  • Inline editing — Rename files, set document type, language, and tags
  • Bulk operations — Select multiple items for batch actions

Bulk actions

Select documents to enable:

  • Manage Folders — Organize selected items
  • Add to Graph — Create or update a graph
  • Extract — Run structured extraction
  • Delete — Remove selected items

Document viewer

Click any document to open it in the viewer:
